I read ALOT, and every now and again I stumble across books that are life changing and hit home. Time Warrior and 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself, by Steve Chandler are two such books.
If you are in SharePoint, (or just IT for that matter), or running your own business and in SharePoint, you will know all to well about never having enough time to do anything. There are incessant deadlines, little sleep and a sense of being constantly overwhelmed. I read this book to help me with time management – but never saw the message in that book coming. You think you simply just have too much to do? Sorry to say, but you don’t – you just can’t ever finish anything and you just don’t feel like doing any of it. Yes, it was a surprise to me too. I couldn’t put this book down.
I read 100 Ways next only because I enjoyed Time Warrior so much, but they are a perfect compliment for each other. The psychology behind your unending workload is eloquently supported by solid ideas in getting going.
It will take some time for this to sink in properly … which just makes everything he says in his book true because it doesn’t have to “take time”, but I’ve put some things into practice already and it is definitely making a difference.
