SharePoint Business Workshops Inaugural Event at Community Night (#SBWJHB)

The very first SharePoint Business Workshop took place at IW last night and it was a great success.  There was a good turn-out of about 30 people, business guys and techies alike.  And that was the point – to start learning from each other so we can make our platforms more successful. (Check out a few pics on the Facebook fan page).

This month’s topic was 12 Months 12 Goals.  Melanie Sutton from iSPartners showed us how spidergrams can be leveraged to break down our tasks into manageable sizes.  She demonstrated her own spidergram that she uses to grow InCider, iSPartner’s intranet.  Download the slidedeck from Lets Collaborate or Information Worker.

Her talk got a very spirited discussion going and we got very side-tracked.  The great part about that was that we have now identified topics for just about the rest of the year that we can address.  There is a new information page on Lets Collaborate which has the proposed topics for the year; presentations and flyer.

We have speakers lined up till June already, so if you have something you’d like to share with the business community, please email me any time and/or put your suggestion on the new SBW LinkedIn group.  This group has just been started so we can carry on the discussions started during the sessions.  There’s just never enough time in an hour to cover everything we have to say.  If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, you can also post your questions and ideas on Information Worker.

[In case you don’t know what the #SBWJHB thing is in the title, it’s a Twitter hashtag for the event.  Learn how to use Twitter for the next one].
