New Forms Functionality for SharePoint Lists

You can now create a Microsoft Formsy-looking form directly from your SharePoint list.

Be aware though, that it does not recognize complex columns like Managed Metadata, Lookups or data workflowed in from another list in another site. In our list, we have both lookups and data from elsewhere. You can see the fields in the standard SharePoint list form that has some JSON formatting on it.

But when creating the new Forms version, those fields are not available.

Also, more than one person can create a Form in the same list. Not sure what the business case here would be to have different forms for the same list.

And whilst they look like Microsoft Forms, they aren’t. They’re powered by Microsoft Lists. This means they won’t show up in the Microsoft Forms app.

It also won’t pick up existing data, it’s only to capture new data.

It is only available internally, can’t share it with external users.

It does pick up settings from the columns.

You can’t embed it into your site, nothing recognises the sharing link it provides.

You would have to add manually as a Quick Launch or Mega Menu item.

So not exactly sure what I would use this for right now as most of our lists have complex columns in them which don’t work with this.

But maybe you have found a use for it? Let us know.
