Beginners always struggle with understanding how SharePoint thinks and hangs together.  We have compiled a simple flow for you.  If you can get your head around this, SharePoint will start to demystify.  The point is that you need to do things in order.  This drawing doesn’t specify all the settings and permissions and whatnot, it is just a high level flow to help you get a handle on how to approach SharePoint as a beginner.
