We know that training and IT budgets are the first to be cut in tough times. So what are you to do if you are desperate to learn this technology but you don’t have the money to do it? The internet and user groups are pretty much your only option.
Try and find a user group in your area. If there isn’t one, maybe start one. Start one in your own company if work in a large organisation.
Next you want to join some forums so you can ask questions and see where your peers are. Try:
- SharePoint Community
- SPYam on Yammer
- LinkedIn SharePoint Groups
- LinkedIn Office 365 Groups
- #SPHelp on Twitter
- #SharePoint on Twitter
Read lots of blogs. Here’s a list of my favourite business bloggers:
- Ben McMann
- Cathy Owen Dew
- Christian Buckley
Dux Raymond Sy
- Erica Toelle
- Ellen van Aken
- Laura Rogers
- Lynn Warneke
- Michal Pisarek
- Michael Sampson

- Share the Point
And here are some bonus free books, training, tutorials, tools, reviews and videos. We can be ever thankful for all the people that share their knowledge so freely. One day when you are in a position to do so, return the favour so the cycle can continue.

Sign up for a SharePoint Online account to test your skills. And then when you think you’ve got this all waxed, go write an exam and give Microsoft feedback on SharePoint.
You got this, don’t give up.
