The Great LC Intranet Restructure – Part 1

There comes a time in very intranet’s life where you need to take stock, decide if it still reflects how the company is working, what is being used, what isn’t, and what needs to be streamlined.  That time has come for us at LC.  Our intranet has been running for 6 years and was migrated to Office 365 a few years ago.  People have come and gone, our business model has changed over the years and we’re ready to reshuffle.

Here’s what it looked like 3 years ago today.  Pity I didn’t keep a screenshot from day one…. Fail…  This was on SharePoint 2010.

Here’s what it looks like today, hosted on Office 365 E3.  We never made it very pretty because for us it’s a workhorse.  Our entire business is managed from our intranet and we all use it every day.  The rules still applies after all these years though, if it’s not on SharePoint, it doesn’t exist.

We have 5.5GB of data stored in 40 lists and libraries in 8 subsites that need to be reshuffled into 3 sites only.  The first thing we did was to talk about our current working model.  LC started out as a training house back in the day, but we’ve long since morphed into intranet building and systems development for clients on top of that.  We established that we now need 3 sites: Human Beings, Jam Jar and Legacy Leaving.  All the apps will be moved to their new home.  Once the migration of content has taken place, we will be rebranding it to make it look prettier.  Then once things have settled down and we’re sure we can still find everything, we have identified 8 systems we will be automating.  But like you, all of us have day jobs, so this takes place between the normal day to day work and project delivery.  Watch this space for how we are progressing and lessons learnt!!

men) who are concerned they are not ageing very gracefully.
Replacing them via topical applications will prove an invaluable aid to our overall appearance,
leaving our skin healthy and unblemished, while its ability to reconstruct our
skin with its collagen ingredients is fast and efficient.

  3. Pevonia products, night creams, anti wrinkle creams and gels are falling off the shelves in most major chemists and department
stores, and they are not cheap for most people’s purses but still we feel the need
to beat off father time. Just add Archipelago Botanicals’ Oat Milk Bath Salts, which heals damaged
areas and banishes impurities for soft, radiant skin.
Somehow, it tells a story on whom we are and what we are doing.
