Think Right, Build Right

We’re usually so busy with our jobs and lives that we seldom take a step back to look at the bigger picture and make sure we’re going in the right direction.

In SharePoint Land, when you’re building your team sites, do you take the time to do planning?  Or have you just been throwing in lists and libraries as a need arises?  And then before you know it, there’s stuff all over your sites and no proper flow to information and processes.  Then you have to spend more time re-engineering them and streamlining them.  I have been guilty of doing that on our intranet in the past. However, when you learn to ask the right questions, it empowers you to think about these things a bit more first and take that step back.

You need to think about re-usability of your information, amount of effort it would take to build the core requirement versus a slightly improved requirement, feature mapping, culture fit, experience level of the consumers of that information, giving them what they want versus what they need, etc etc.  Taking the time to plan your sites better and think about the bigger picture will make for a more effective intranet.

And then there’s think right, build right in life! Do you know that you are the soul creator of your universe?  Do you know that you can change your entire world just by thinking better thoughts? So if you want to build a successful happy life, as is the birthright of every person on this planet, you need to think right.

Banish every single negative thought from right now and replace it with a positive thought.  Fantasize about your dream life / relationship / job / body all day and every day.  It’s just a game.  What have you got to lose?  Imagine if all you had to do to change your stars, was to banish all negative thoughts!  It’s worth a try right?

The biggest trick to this is understanding what a negative thought is and when you’re having one.  They sneak up on you before you know what’s going on! Apart from the obvious ones of pure rage and hate and all that, there’s more subtle ones. Kick those buggers right out your head and replace them with a positive thought.  Focus on something you do want when you feel those niggly feelings coming in.  I’ve been doing this for 2 weeks; the change is remarkable!! Try it. 🙂
